The Bharatiya Janata Party is yet to announce its name for chief minister after the Election Commission on Saturday announced the party's landslide victory in the Delhi Assembly elections held on February 5.

Some reports suggest that the BJP wants a first-time MLA to be made the next chief minister. According to BJP leaders, the swearing-in ceremony will take place after Prime Minister Narendra Modi returns from his US visit.

Outgoing Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Atishi resigned from the post after her party's defeat in the election, clearing the way for the formation of a new government.

Several names are doing the rounds as contenders to become Delhi's first BJP CM after Sushma Swaraj in 1998. These include Parvesh Verma, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva, senior party leader Vijender Gupta and newly elected MLA from Mustafabad Mohan Singh Bisht.

Amid a heated exchange between Congress and AAP ahead of the polls, senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Shukla reiterated that the Bharat Alliance is united and will collectively strategise for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Arvind Kejriwal called a meeting with Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann and MLAs who are campaigning in different areas for the Delhi elections.

"I will ask Pratap Singh Bajwa how many MLAs he has in Delhi," he told the media after meeting AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and the party's Punjab MLAs.

Arvind Kejriwal thanked the MLAs for their work in the Delhi polls... BJP MP Manoj Tiwari claimed that AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal wants to become the Punjab CM after the party's defeat in the Delhi assembly elections.

"Now Arvind Kejriwal wants to become the chief minister of Punjab. He is holding meetings. Till now he was not concerned about Punjab, he has not even fulfilled the promises made to the people," Tiwari said.
