Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Joint Base Andrews in Washington DC on Thursday (IST) morning after completing his visit to France. This is his first visit to the US after President Donald Trump's second term.

Prime Minister Modi's US visit comes after a two-day visit to France. During this visit, he held bilateral talks with French President Emmanuel Macron and discussed a number of issues including cooperation on AI and civil nuclear energy. The Prime Minister said that this visit is an opportunity to "build upon the successes of our cooperation in his first term and develop an agenda to further expand and deepen our partnership."


Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to reach Washington DC on Thursday (late Wednesday evening EST) morning, which will be the beginning of his two-day US visit, during which he may hold a bilateral meeting with President Donald Trump to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

PM Modi's visit to Washington comes nearly three weeks after Donald Trump was sworn in on January 20 and amid tariff threats issued by the US leader in recent days.

The White House announced that President Donald Trump will unveil their reciprocal tariff plans ahead of PM Modi's visit to Washington DC. The tariffs could mean duties imposed on Indian imports to the US, which Trump had earlier said would be equivalent to taxes imposed by other countries on his products.

PM Modi may also discuss the crackdown on illegal immigrants in the country.

Speaking about PM Modi's US visit, BJP leader Prakash Reddy said that he hopes PM Modi's meeting with US President Donald Trump will help boost India-US relations. He told ANI, "...I hope the meeting between PM Modi and US President Donald Trump will give a boost to the bilateral relations between the US and India.
